BRACKET EVENTS RETURN THIS WEEKEND AT CFR

Points Bracket Races this Sat & Sun, May 19 & 20

The forecast is looking good and it's time to start the 2012 Bracket Points Season at Cedar Falls Raceway this Saturday and Sunday, May 19 & 20. The weekend gets underway Friday evening with an open test-n-tune event. Then on Saturday and Sunday there will be two separate points bracket events. Classes of competition include the Wright Way Trailers Super Pro, Arnold Motor Supply Pro ET, Sportsman ET, Pure Street and Junior Dragster. In addition on Saturday the H&W Speed True 10.5" Tire class will be racing. "We are excited to get the bracket season started along with the radical H & W Speed 10.5" tire cars" mentioned Dan Driscoll.

The gates open Friday at 6 PM. As in the past, racers and crew are welcome to camp on the grounds for the weekend with no additional charges. Gates re-open Saturday at 11 AM with time trial sessions and qualifying underway at 12 Noon. For more information on these events please go to the "this week @ CFR" section of this website.


TWO BIG DAYS OF TEST-N-TUNE
THIS FRI & SAT, MAY 11 & 12

Getting ready for the 2012 bracket race season or just making runs down the quarter-mile is what many are looking forward to this Friday and Saturday, May 11 & 12 at Cedar Falls Raceway. Friday is a Fun Night with gates opening at 6 PM. Then Saturday, gates will re-open at 2 PM with another day of open racing plus a gamblers race for those who have an interest.

Plan on attending these race events as the following Saturday and Sunday, May 19 & 20 are the first points race events of the season plus the H&W Speed 10.5 Challenge Class.


BUSY WEEKEND ON TAP AT CEDAR FALLS RACEWAY

First Friday Fun Night of the 2012 Season

This Friday, May 4 will kick off the 2012 Friday Fun Nights at Cedar Falls Raceway. Gates open Friday at 6 PM with test-n-tune underway at 6:30 PM. Then on Saturday (May 5) it's a Spring Fun Day with open racing again for everyone followed by the CVSI Motorsports Midnight Mania. Gates Open Saturday at 2 PM with racing underway at 3 PM. The CVSI Motorsports Midnight Mania will get underway with racing from 9 PM - 1 AM for street legal cars, trucks and motorcycles.

ABOUT FRIDAY FUN NIGHTS & FUN DAYS
Friday Fun Nights is your opportunity to race on the popular quarter-mile at Cedar Falls Raceway. You do not need a race car to race, lots of people bring out there street cars, trucks or motorcycles. It's easy and it's super fun. Try it sometime and we bet you will like it.

ABOUT CVSI MOTORSPORTS MIDNIGHT MANIA
The CVSI Motorsports Midnight Mania is for street legal cars, trucks and motorcycles. The events feature heads up "instant green" starts like it is at a stop light on the streets. "These events are a lot of fun as you can see many fast street cars, truck and motorcycles that are street legal" said Dan Driscoll. In addition to the racing we have flag girl contest and much more.

DISMAL FORECAST MOVES OPENING DAY TO
SUNDAY, APRIL 29

With almost all forecasters calling for a very high percentage of rain, windy and cold conditions for Saturday, April 28, the management of Cedar Falls Raceway have decided to move opening day to Sunday, April 29. "We really believe this is the best move, said Dan Driscoll, the forecast is much better for Sunday with sunny conditions and a high around 60."

Gates will open Sunday at 11 AM (those coming for scheduled chassis certifications may enter earlier) with test-n-tune underway at 12 Noon. "It should be a good day on Sunday and we are very much looking forward to getting the track open for 2012" mentioned Driscoll.

OPENING DAY IS HERE

Cedar Falls Raceway Opens This Saturday, April 28

With the weather moderating up and down it is finally time to get Cedar Falls Raceway open for the 2012 season. This Saturday, April 28 is opening day! "Opening day is a great opportunity to get out and make some passes down the quarter mile" said Track Manager Dan Driscoll. Racing is open for everyone with test-n-tune plus a gamblers race for those who might want to get some competition in. Gates open at 11 AM.

SCHEDULE CHANGE WITH THE ADDITION
OF MAJOR BRACKET EVENT

Wild Spring Bash Set for Saturday & Sunday, June 16 & 17

Cedar Falls Raceway is making a major change in their 2012 Events Schedule with the addition of The Wild Spring Bash on Saturday and Sunday, June 16 & 17, 2012. The event will feature $2,500 and $3,000 to win races for the Super Pro/Pro Combo Class. The originally scheduled Fun Day for Saturday, June 16 has been removed from the schedule. However, there will be a Fun Night with open racing for everyone on Friday, June 15. Click here for entry fee and payout information.


NHRA MAKES RULE CHANGES
CONCERNING WINDOW NETS FOR 2012

The following changes have been made to the NHRA Rulebook concerning Window Nets. As you will read below, for vehicles running 7.50 (4.50) to 9.99 (6.39) or 135 mph and faster you must have a SFI 27.1 mesh-type net. However a 2-year certification is now not required. SECTION 4A: SUPER PRO, PRO, SPORTSMAN, INTERIOR:6, WINDOW NET (Page 5) (3/5/2012) A ribbon-type or SFI 27.1 mesh-type window net is
mandatory for any full-bodied car running 7.50 (*4.50) to 9.99 (*6.39) or if vehicle runs 135 mph or faster. See General Regulations 6:3.

SECTION 4B:ADVANCED E.T., INTERIOR:6, WINDOW NET (Page 11) (3/5/2012) An SFI 27.1 ribbon-type or mesh-type window net is mandatory on any full-bodied car running 6.00 (*3.66) to 7.49 (*4.49). SFI 27.1 window net, when required, must be updated at two-year intervals from the date of manufacture. See General Regulations 6:3.

CHRIS DUNCAN RACE CARS PRO MOD SUPER SERIES BACK ON TRACK FOR 2012

The Chris Duncan Race Cars Pro Mod Super Series will return in 2012 with races concentrated in the Midwest. “We are excited to present the Pro Mod Super Series again in 2012, said Chris Duncan, it’s a great opportunity for Pro Mod racers to participate without having to take several days away” he continued.

ATTENTION RACERS: 2012 NHRA RULES UPDATES

The NHRA has published their rules revisions and updates for the 2012 season. All updates are available online at nhraracer.com. Please refer to nhraracer.com or the NHRA Rulebook for a complete listing as well as the details.

Rules of most significance note for sportsman racers include but not limited to;

1. SNELL 2000 helmets are NOW EXPIRED. Racers 13.99 (8.59 - 1/8 mile) and quicker and motorcycle/sled/ATV and Junior Dragster competitors must have a current SNELL or SFI approved helmets. The most common are SNELL, and the 2005 dated helmets are good until 1/1/2017 and 2010 dates helmets are good until 1/1/2022.

2. Super Street competitors must now have a lower engine oil containment device. A belly pan may be used in lieu of a "diaper".

3. Advanced E.T. racers 6.00 - 7.49 ET (3.66-4.49 ET - 1/8 mile) must have a head and neck support device that is dated within 5 years.

4. Window Nets as required, must be within 2 years of certification.


ATTENTION RACERS PLANNING TO ATTEND 2012 BRACKET FINALS

As announced last year; all vehicles 9.99 or quicker will be required to have an NHRA accepted Oil Retention Device, (this does not include Bikes and Sleds), at the 2012 ET Finals event in Topeka, KS. Please be sure to get this completed as soon as possible.
